Who this course is for
Beginner to Medium Experienced Flash Fiction Writers
What you can expect
Flash fiction ezineSplonk editors Marie Gethins and Lisa Nic an Bhreithimh will guide you through a series of fun and stimulating exercises crafting different flash fiction in English or as Gaeilge.
Utilising a large group format for general instruction, participants then can join small breakout rooms of four to five people to share/discuss their work in either language before re-joining the large group for additional instruction. Whether you are trying flash fiction for the first time, or honing your current skills, the course will create opportunities to explore individual innovation through several flash styles.
What will participants be focusing on and when?
The 2.5 hour course (with two 15 minute breaks) will involve a mix of large group instruction for exercises, writing time bursts, and small group breakout rooms to share/discuss the previous exercise. Group leaders will pop into the various rooms for Q&A.
Will participants be expected to produce work and if so, how often?
There will be three flash styles and prompts provided during the course followed by short writing time bursts. Participants then will have the option to participate in breakout room discussions.
What you will learn
Whether you are trying flash fiction for the first time, or honing your current skills, the course will create opportunities to explore individual innovation through several flash styles. Participants can expect to come away with the kernel of two to three new flashes and understanding of three flash stylistic approaches.
