Dingle Lit Wins Kerry Community Award

Members of the Dingle Lit organising community were thrilled to accept a Silver Award on behalf of the festival at the Kerry Community Awards, which took place in the Rose Hotel, Tralee, on Thursday, 12th September.

Run by Kerry County Council, the Awards recognise the work of the community and voluntary sector that seeks to improve the social, economic, cultural and environmental quality of life in our local communities, both urban and rural.

As one speaker on the night said:

We speak a lot about the economy, but we don’t live in an economy, we live in a community.

Many worthy organisations were recognised on the night, from Tidy Towns committees to mental health and women’s groups. The overall award on the night went to a very worthy winner: Cúnamh Iveragh, a group provides vital support to children and young adults with intellectual disabilities around Cahersiveen and South Kerry.
