Join acclaimed Irish novelist and short story writer Christine Dwyer Hickey in conversation with poet and writer John O’Donnell. Celebrated for her beautifully observed fiction, Christine is the author of novels including Tatty, The Cold Eye of Heaven and The Narrow Land, as well as two short story collections. Together, they will explore her writing life, the inspiration behind her work and the art of creating memorable characters and vividly realised worlds. Christine Dwyer Hickey is an acclaimed Irish novelist and short story writer, known for her perceptive explorations of family, memory, childhood and place. Her novel Tatty was shortlisted for the Orange Prize and selected as Dublin’s One City One Book in 2020. The Cold Eye of Heaven won the Irish Novel of the Year at the Irish Book Awards, while The Narrow Land, inspired by the lives of Edward and Jo Hopper, won the Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction in 2020. She has also received the Listowel Writers’ Week Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year Award for The Gambler.
John O’Donnell is an Irish poet, writer and lawyer whose work has been widely published and recognised. His poetry collections include Some Other Country, On Water and Sunlight: New and Selected Poems. A former winner of the Hennessy Poetry Award, his writing is known for its clarity, insight and emotional precision.
