Ionad an Bhlascaoid – The Blasket Centre
The Blasket Centre is a heritage centre operated by the Office of Public Works (OPW). It tells the story of the Blasket Islands and the tiny Irish-speaking community who lived there until the mid-20th century, their rich heritage, and unique literature. The Blasket Island authors left behind invaluable social records in their documentation of life in the island community. The Blasket Centre is also a stunning piece of architecture in itself, completely upgraded in 2022, with interactive exhibitions, a theatre-style event space, and a café. The site incorporates a fully accessible clifftop viewing platform that offers dramatic views of the Blasket archipelago and the Atlantic coastline.
