Dingle Literature Festival is an annual weekend festival which takes place in November, celebrating some of the most exciting voices in contemporary literature, in both Irish and English.

About Dingle Lit

  • Established in 2019
  • Runs over three days every November
  • Programmes over 60 events – talks, panel discussions, poetry readings, performances, writing workshops, and artist collaborations
  • Attracts top quality authors with a focus on literary fiction, non-fiction, contemporary Irish writing and poetry. Dingle Lit has welcomed high profile guests and award-winning authors including President Michael D Higgins, Anne Enright, John Banville, Donal Ryan, Gabriel Byrne, Neil Jordan, to name just a few.
  • Welcomes a diverse range of voices, from ethnic Travellers (Roisin McDonagh, Oein de Bharduin), Black experience (Emma Dabiri), trans (Soula Emmanuel, Jayne A. Quan) and queer community (Annemarie Ní Chuirreáin, Seán Hewitt and Ciara Ní É).
  • Important non-fiction explorations of history, Irish life and current affairs: Diarmaid Ferriter, Sally Hayden, Martin Doyle, Máiría Cahill.
  • Next festival dates: Fri 15 – Sun 17 November 2024.


  • Dingle is an attractive tourist destination set in an area of great natural beauty on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.
  • Good transport links with direct trains to Tralee or Killarney, and buses to Dingle.
  • Kerry Airport is a 1 hour
