Dingle Lit writers workshops

Workshop coordinator wanted

2:59pm | Mon 20 May 2024

The Dingle Literary Festival is looking for a special volunteer to look after coordinating our writers’ workshops over the festival weekend. This is a wonderful volunteer opportunity for someone who is passionate about writing, able to work autonomously and take ownership of this thriving element of the festival. If you love meeting new people, creating a warm welcome and immersing yourself in the literary world, this could be for you.

The 2024 festival takes place over the weekend of November 15th, 16th & 17th. We envisage running approximately 8 workshops in various locations over the weekend. There will be a mix of half and full day workshops.

The workshops normally take place on Friday and Saturday. Attendance at each workshop is capped at between 6 and 12 people.

We’re looking for a friendly and organised volunteer who can manage the following duties (and anything else that crops up on the day!):

  • Taking full responsibility for making the workshops happen, including all logistical arrangements and administration of the workshops.
  • Monitoring and responding to emails at the dedicated workshops email address.
  • The festival planning meetings will take place on Wednesday evenings from September onwards. It is desirable that you can attend (either in person or virtually) to provide updates for all the team.
  • Coordinating tutors and attendees. Meeting and welcoming attendees on the day and directing them to the relevant rooms. Organising tea/coffee at break time.
  • Sourcing author bios and images from the tutors for the marketing team (for use in festival brochure and on website, social media etc).
  • Managing online booking system for workshops through Eventbrite.
  • Working on-site at Dingle Lit 2024 over the weekend of 17-19 November to manage the running of the workshops and coordinating attendees.
  • Thanking tutors following the festival weekend.
  • Confidence in speaking Irish would be an advantage.
Essential Skills:
  • An ease of working with and learning new online systems.
  • MS Office Skills.
  • Attention to detail with a logical way of working.
  • Ability to communicate easily with others.

We propose finalising the details of the workshops no later than 30th July 2024. You will be involved in the planning of the workshops. Once the workshop schedule is finalised you will take over the communications with the tutors. In some cases, the tutor is also involved with an author event. Where this happens, you’ll work closely with the festival admin, who may already have been in touch with the author about their event.

This is a volunteer role, ideally suited to someone based in West Kerry.

Can you help? Want to volunteer for the book festival? Get in touch/drop us a line/give us a call info@dinglelit.ie by June 10th.

Ceannaire Ceardlainne – Ról Deonach

Tá Féile Liteartha Chorca Dhuibhne ag earcú Ceannaire Ceardlainne chun freagracht a ghlacadh as reáchtáil ár gceardlann do scríbhneoirí.

Beidh féile 2024 ar siúl thar dheireadh seachtaine an 15, 16, 17 Samhain. Tá sé i gceist againn thart ar 8 gceardlann a reáchtáil i suíomhanna éagsúla an deireadh seachtaine sin. Beidh meascán idir ceardlanna leathlae agus ceardlanna lae ann.

Is ar an Aoine agus ar an Satharn a bhíonn na ceardlanna ar siúl de ghnáth. Ní mó ná idir seisear agus dháréag rannpháirtithe a bheidh ag gach ceardlann.

Beidh na dualgais seo a leanas mar chuid den obair, ach d’fhéadfadh dualgais eile a bheith i gceist chomh maith:

  • Freagracht iomlán a ghlacadh as na ceardlanna a reáchtáil, lena n-áirítear na socruithe lóistíochta ar fad agus riarachán na gceardlann.
  • Tá seoladh ríomhphoist ar leith ann (workshops@dinglelit.ie) agus is ar an té a earcófar a bheidh an fhreagracht as súil a choinneáil ar an mbosca isteach agus na ríomhphoist a fhreagairt go poncúil de réir mar is gá.
  • Beidh cruinnithe pleanála na féile ar siúl oíche Céadaoin ó mhí Mheán Fómhair ar aghaidh. Tá sé inmhianaithe go bhféadfá freastal (go pearsanta nó go fíorúil) ar na cruinnithe sin chun an fhoireann go léir a choinneáil suas chun dáta.
  • Comhordú a dhéanamh idir teagascóirí agus rannpháirtithe. Bualadh le rannpháirtithe agus fáilte a chur rompu ar lá na ceardlainne agus iad a threorú chuig na seomraí cearta. Tae/caife a chur ar fáil ag an am sosa
  • Ábhar beathaisnéise agus íomhánna de na húdair a bheidh mar theagascóirí a bhailiú don fhoireann margaíochta (Clíodhna agus Deanna)
  • An córas áirithinte ar líne do na ceardlanna a bhainistiú tríd an ardán Eventbrite.
  • Obair a dhéanamh ar an láthair ag Féile Liteartha Chorca Dhuibhne, 2024 thar dheireadh seachtaine an 17-19 Samhain chun na ceardlanna a reáchtáil agus comhordú a dhéanamh leis na rannpháirtithe.
  • Buíochas a ghabháil leis na teagascóirí nuair a bheidh deireadh seachtaine na féile thart.
  • Bheadh cumas maith sa Ghaeilge labhartha ina bhuntáiste.
Scileanna Riachtanacha:
  • A bheith in ann córais nua ar líne a láimhseáil agus cur amach a fháil orthu gan stró.
  • Scileanna MS Office.
  • An-chúram a dhéanamh de mhionsonraí agus a bheith córasach i do chuid oibre.
  • A bheith in ann cumarsáid a dhéanamh go héasca le daoine eile.

Tá sé beartaithe againn mionsonraí na gceardlann a shocrú faoin 30 Iúil 2024 ar a dhéanaí. Beidh an té a earcófar páirteach i bpleanáil na gceardlann. A luaithe a bheidh sceideal na gceardlann socraithe, glacfaidh tú féin freagracht ar an gcumarsáid leis na teagascóirí. I gcásanna áirithe, beidh baint ag an teagascóir chomh maith le himeachtaí ina nglacann údair páirt iontu. Sa chás sin, oibreoidh tú go dlúth le Catherine – seans go mbeadh teagmháil déanta aicise leis an údar cheana féin faoin imeacht.

Is ról deonach é seo a d’fheilfeadh go maith do dhuine atá ina c(h)ónaí in Iarthar Chiarraí.

Ar mhaith leat cabhrú linn? Ar mhaith leat obair dheonach a dhéanamh ar son na féile liteartha? Déan teagmháil linn ag info@dinglelit.ie faoin 31 Bealtaine 2024.
